Marguerite Marie Mathieson Filer
Homemaker lived in Springfield Township

Marguerite Marie Mathieson Filer, 1947 Leesburg-Grove City Road, Springfield Township, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday (6-9-01) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, following an extended illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Filer was born March 21, 1918, in Springfield Township to Lindsey and Florence Mathieson.

She was educated at a country school in London, Springfield Township.

The homemaker was a former member of Nazareth United Methodist Church of Number Five Mine, Springfield Township.

Her husband, Thomas Eden Filer, whom he married Nov. 29, 1934, died in November 1987.

Surviving are: two sons, Gary T. Filer and his wife Rebecca; and Wayne A. Filer and his wife Claytine, both Springfield Township; four grandchildren, Kimberly Pettigrew, Mercer; Lori Mortimer, Sandy Lake; and Tom Filer and Heath Kalac, both Springfield Township; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard L. "Vern" Penman, San Diego, Calif.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Florence Penman; two sisters, Gertrude Donaldson and Dorothy Steffee; and two brothers, Clair Mathieson and Bobby Penman.

William R. Lloyd Jr.
Sharon Steel retiree formerly lived in Jefferson Township

William R. Lloyd Jr., Countryside Convalescent Home, Coolspring Township, formerly of Jefferson (Township) Park, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday (6-9-01) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, following an extended illness. He was 66.

Mr. Lloyd was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Wheatland to William R. Lloyd Sr. and Maude Hamlin Lloyd.

He attended Wheatland and Farrell area schools and worked for the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant in the No. 11 Coating Department for 32 years, retiring in 1980.

Mr. Lloyd served in the Air Force as a mechanic during peacetime.

He belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6345; and was a past member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637, both Mercer.

Surviving are: three sisters, Shirley Skibo, Sharon; Jean Krvar, Masury; and Dorothy Edwards, Alexander, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Wilma Leipheimer and Virginia Thomas.

Dorothy Kramerich Nestor
Homemaker was volunteer for Salvation Army, fire unit

Dorothy Kramerich Nestor, 460 Crawford Drive, Hermitage, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday (6-10-01) in her home following an extended illness. She was 72.

Mrs. Nestor was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Aliquippa to George and Mary Vukovich Kramerich.

She was an alumna of Farrell High School and was a volunteer director for more than 15 years for the Senior Center at the Salvation Army in Sharon.

Mrs. Nestor was a member and past president of the Patagonia Volunteer Fire Department.

A homemaker, she was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermitage and was very devoted to her family and friends.

Surviving are: her husband, John Nestor, whom she married on Aug. 27, 1949, at home; her mother, Hermitage; a daughter, Val Jean Nestor, Auburn, Wash.; a son, John J. Nestor and his wife Michele, Valencia, Pa.; and a brother, George Kramerich, Cleveland.

She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Gary Nestor; and a brother, Robert Kramerich.

Lawrence R. 'Rege' Connelly
Cheswick man was Navy vet, had sons living in Mercer

PITTSBURGH -- Lawrence R. "Rege" Connelly, 26 Armstrong St., Cheswick, Pa., died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday (6-10-01) in Montefiore University Hospital. He was 74.

Mr. Connelly was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Pittsburgh to Robert and Ida Mae Sullivan Connelly.

He was a first class millwright at the former Heppenstall Steel in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, where he worked for 28 years.

A Navy veteran, Mr. Connelly served during World War II.

He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church; and Knights of Columbus, both Harwick, Pa.

Since 1955, Mr. Connelly lived in Cheswick.

He enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving are: his wife of 54 years, the former Mary Ann Bacasa, at home; three sons, Thomas R. and Lawrence Connelly, both Mercer; and Timothy O. Connelly, Brackenridge, Pa.; a daughter, Tina Connelly, Cheswick; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Fullon, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ruth Lutz.
