I love this Christmas bundt cake. It’s an easy holiday cake recipe that can be made in a pinch. This is the perfect busy mom’s recipe to wow your guests this holiday season.

Bundt cakes are simple and easy which is why I love them so much. Christmas time is such a busy time that I wanted to create a Christmas dessert recipe that didn’t require a ton of work, but still has that “wow” factor. This Christmas bundt cake does the trick!

Because it’s a bundt cake, there’s not preparing layers, no spreading frosting. And, there’s a surprise inside that makes it really fun! It makes the perfect holiday cake!

Just look at this beauty. It’s so colorful. And you can really make it your own by choosing different color combinations. (See how I made this cake for Halloween!)

Perfectly festive with read and green frosting. I added the white frosting to break it up and keep it light and fresh.

Guests will love this cake, and then they’ll see inside …

Love this Christmas bundt cake! Look at the color! I recommend using a gel food coloring instead of the regular liquid food coloring that you might be more familiar with. The gel food colors hold up when baked and keep their true colors. (affiliate link) I use these.

It really is simple to make this Christmas bundt cake and makes an impact at your party or holiday gathering.

These Christmas cupcakes use color to make festive frosting perfect for a Christmas party!

Christmas Bundt Cake

Course Dessert

Cuisine American

Prep Time 20 minutes minutes

Cook Time 20 minutes minutes

Total Time 40 minutes minutes

Ingredients

Bundt cake

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • Water
  • vegetable oil
  • eggs

Frosting

  • Green gel food coloring
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Red and green sprinkles
  • 1 – 12 oz. can vanilla frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350

  • Grease bundt cake pan

  • Mix the white cake according to box instructions

  • Separate batter into thirds.

  • Mix green food coloring in one third. Mix red food coloring in one third. Leave one third white.

  • Prepare chocolate cake according to box instructions.

  • Pour 1/3 of chocolate batter into prepared bundt cake pan

  • Top with white cake batter. Follow with red, then green batter. Finish with 1/3 of chocolate

  • Do NOT stir batter, just layer each color on top of the other. At the end, when putting the remaining chocolate, don’t overfill. Depending on your bundt pan, only pour enough batter to still have room for the cake to rise. It doesn’t really matter how much of each color you use.

  • Bake for 20 minutes or until done. Cool on wire rack and remove from pan.

  • !Frosting

  • Divide frosting into 3 microwavable bowls.

  • Mix one bowl with green food coloring. Stir until desired color is reached.

  • Mix second bowl with red food coloring. Stir until desired color is reached.

  • Leave last bowl of frosting white.

  • Heat each bowl of frosting for 5-10 seconds until frosting is thin and falls off a spoon.

  • Take a spoon and drizzle one colored frosting over top of cake with a back and forth motion, letting the icing fall over the sides of the cake. Alternate between colors to get desired look. Repeat with all three colors until all frosting is on cake.

  • Top with sprinkles.

  • Let cool and serve!

This was a hit!! It looked and tasted great – both the kids and adults loved it! The colours blended beautifully and I made cupcakes with the 1/3 of the unused chocolate batter. I did find that it took 45 minutes to bake. Thanks for such a festive addition to our dinner!
