Violet Dolata Ozog
Farrell homemaker was active in St. Adalbert's

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday for Violet Dolata Ozog, 915 Indiana Ave., Farrell. She passed away at 3:08 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in her home after an extended illness. She was 82.

Born Nov. 4, 1918, in Sharon, Mrs. Ozog was a daughter of the late Walter and Anastasia Pawlowski Dolata.

As an active member of St. Adalbert's Church in Farrell, she belonged to its Church Family Club, Altar Rosary Society and Infant of Prague Society.

Mrs. Ozog was also a member of the Polish National Alliance Queen Wanda Lodge 2344 in Farrell.

A homemaker, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed shopping.

On Nov. 11, 1961, she married Joseph Ozog. He preceded her in death May 16, 1995.

Survivors include: three sisters, Helen Hlumyk, West Middlesex; Ann Niezgoda, Hermitage; and Celie Krist, Boca Raton, Fla.; one brother, Walter Dolata, Mercer; two grandchildren, Edward J. McGarrity, Brookfield; and Matthew D. McGarrity, Hubbard; four great-grandchildren, Melanie, Benjamin, Tessa and Dean McGarrity; and one son-in-law, James E. McGarrity, Brookfield.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dolores McGarrity; and one brother, Frank Dolata.

Donald R. Hosack
National Castings retiree was Lakeview Estates manager

Donald R. Hosack, 31 Smola Road, Sandy Lake, died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township from cancer. He was 70.

Mr. Hosack was born Sept. 13, 1930, in Meadville to Harold and Pearl Fritz Hosack.

He graduated from the former Hadley High School in 1948 and married Kathryn M. Myers on Sept. 2, 1950.

Don was employed by the former Davy Tree Co. and retired after 30 years from National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp. in Sharon. He managed Lakeview Estates in Sandy Lake for several years.

He was a Protestant.

An Army veteran, Mr. Hosack served in the Medical Corps in Germany and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Franklin.

He played organized softball for many years and was a faithful Cleveland Browns fan.

The avid fisherman and hunter won many trophies in fishing contests.

Mr. Hosack is survived by: his wife; his mother, Greenville; a daughter, Mrs. Berkley (Laurie) Ellis, Pottstown, Pa.; two brothers, Bruce Hosack, Sea Grove, N.C.; and Gerald Hosack, Greenville; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The family requests memorial contributions be made for prostate cancer research in care of Allison Baker to American Foundation for Urologic Disease, 1128 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21201.

Floyd Gilliland
New Wilmington man retired from Sawhill in Wheatland

Floyd Gilliland, 4297 Bethel Road, New Wilmington, died Wednesday afternoon (6-27-01) in The Overlook nursing home, New Wilmington. He was 97.

Mr. Gilliland was born May 16, 1904, in New Wilmington to John and Margaret Garrett Gilliland.

He attended Number 8 School in Wilmington Township and retired at the age of 62 from what is now AK Steel, Sawhill Tubular Division, in Wheatland.

His wife, the former Mary Gertrude Frankenburg, died Sept. 10, 1995.

Surviving are: a son, Dale L. Gilliland, New Wilmington; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, an infant; and George, Cliff, Clarence and Alfred Gilliland; and two sisters, Lillian and Pearl.

Elizabeth 'Liz' H. Cathcart
Hickory grad owned beauty salon in West Middlesex

A funeral service will be held Friday for Elizabeth "Liz" H. Cathcart, 3571 Sharon Road, West Middlesex. She passed away at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (6-26-01) in her home. She was 63.

Born Feb. 12, 1938, in West Middlesex, Mrs. Cathcart was a daughter of Rose Kelly Panin of Sharon and the late Bosko Panin.

She was a graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage and the former Cheena's Beauty Academy in Sharpsville.

Mrs. Cathcart owned and operated for more than 20 years the former Elizabeth Cathcart Beauty Salon in West Middlesex.

She attended Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Lackawannock Township and enjoyed crafts and gardening.

On Nov. 9, 1957, she married James E. Cathcart. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2000.

In addition to her mother, survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Diana L.) Collins, Hermitage; two sons, Gary J. Cathcart and his wife M. Cathy, Sharpsville; and Jeffrey A. Cathcart and his wife Debbie, Wheatland; one sister, Anna Thompson, Anchorage, Alaska; one grandson, Daniel Cathcart; and one stepgranddaughter, Christina.
